Physical Education

Purpose
As a core belief that healthy and physically active children are much more likely to succeed in the classroom, Physical Education and interscholastic Athletics are an integral part of a student's experience at Advent. With outstanding teachers and coaches, as well as great facilities, Advent students are physically involved in P.E. classes, after-school care, and as "Panthers" athletes.

Facilities
These activities occur at either our indoor gym which contains a full sized volleyball court or our rooftop gym. The younger students make ample use of our outdoor playground.

Classes
First through eighth grade students participate in physical education four days a week for 30 minutes each day on a schedule that varies between morning and afternoon physical activity. Cardiovascular conditioning is emphasized daily, and a game-based approach to PE provides students with a nice break from academic activities. Fifth through eighth grade students will participate in various different sport exercises that promote team work, communication and leadership qualities.

Interscholastic Sports
Advent seventh and eighth grade students are eligible to compete in interscholastic athletics under the auspices of the AHSAA. Learning and refining basic skills and sportsmanship are stressed in Advent athletics, and many Advent students continue to progress in high school and college sports.
