Advent students are encouraged to participate in a variety of organizations:
- Student Council
The Advent Student Council is comprised of eight 5th-8th grade-level representatives who are elected by their homeroom peers. Additionally, four officers are elected by the entire upper school student body to serve in the capacities of President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Public Relations Officer. The class representatives and officers meet weekly to develop and plan activities which aim to foster a sense of school community, boost student life, and are impactful to our local downtown community. The Student Council endeavors to support a variety of charitable organizations while promoting student leadership.
- Cross and Shield Service
This uniformed corps of students selected from grades six through eight serve as school representatives in various capacities. Their job functions include: guides, ushers, hosts, escorts, etc. at school functions during the year.
Students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade are allowed to participate in being a uniformed acolyte during the weekly Chapel service. Students walk in procession with the Ensemble carrying flags, banners, crosses, and altar candles.
- Choral Ensemble
Ensemble members are selected by audition each year from rising fourth through eighth grade students. The group performs at school and civic functions throughout the year and weekly at the school's Chapel service.
- Recorder Ensemble
The Music director chooses members of this group through audition. They perform throughout Birmingham as well as for some school Chapel services and other special programs.
