Head of School Installation

Advent Episcopal School's Board of Trustees are thrilled to celebrate the installation of Claire Cassady Vaughn as Advent Episcopal School's sixth Head of School. A service commemorating the occasion will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 8:15 AM at the Cathedral Church of the Advent.

Claire Cassady Vaughn Bio

Claire was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. After attending Advent Episcopal School from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade and receiving both the Crawford T. Johnson and Leadership Awards, Claire attended the Baylor School in Chattanooga, Tennessee as a boarding student and a member of the school’s first class of Distinguished Merit Scholars (Cartter Scholars). After graduating from Baylor, Claire attended Vanderbilt University, where she received a bachelor’s degree of science in child studies. Claire continued her study of French, which began at Advent through her time at Baylor, and ultimately studied French as a student in Aix-en-Provence during her junior year at Vanderbilt.
 
Claire began her career in independent school education as the Assistant Director of Admission & Financial Aid at Saint Mary’s School in Raleigh, North Carolina. While at Saint Mary’s, Claire lived on campus and served as a dormitory head and an advisor for sophomore and junior girls. Claire returned to Birmingham in 2014 to assume the role of Director of Admission & Financial Aid at Indian Springs School. During her four years there, the school experienced record enrollment and retention. Claire was actively engaged as a speaker during her time at Indian Springs, serving as the keynote speaker for several scholarship and chapel engagements and internationally through her work in China. In 2018, Claire returned home to Advent to serve as the Director of Advancement and currently serves as the Assistant Head of School for Advancement.

Claire is actively involved in the Birmingham community through her work as President of the Red Mountain Park Foundation, Scholarship Chair for the Junior League of Birmingham, and Committee Chair for the Ballet Guild of Birmingham. Claire and her husband Wesley live in Forrest Park with their golden retriever, Diesel.
