Meglan In Youth Art Exhibition
Congratulations to 5th grader Meglan Welch whose artwork was selected for the Youth Art Month Exhibition at the Birmingham Museum of Art. A museum jury selected 60 artworks for the display in the exhibition representing elementary and secondary schools from across the Birmingham Metro Area.

7th grade (Level 2) - Caroline Beisher, Declan Doyle, Jack Langloh, Caroline Settle, Sela Trimm, and Olivia Wang.
This year's event on March 11 follows two themes: building community - strengthening ties within our school and establishing strong relationships between Advent and the downtown community - and bolstering the arts programming at Advent. In the 2016-2017 AISA State Creative Writing Competition, two Advent students finished first in their respective classifications. Izabella Kulczycka, a 6th Grader, won the 6-8 Grade division, and 4th Grader Sophia Self claimed the 3-5 Grade title. Click here for the complete results.
Advent truly believes that our students can go anywhere they desire. To help reach this point, the school relies on an annual giving campaign, named Advent Gives.
Meglan Meets CIA Head and Military Leaders
Meglan Welch, an Advent 5th grader, recently met with the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, John Brennan, the former Commandant of the Marine Corps as well as the former Joint Chiefs of Staff General Krulak, and General Ennis, the former Director of Intelligence for the Marine Corps. This happened at the Miles College National Security Colloquium. They asked Meglan where she attends school and did she like it. She was excited to share about her adventures at Advent.

Mina Named Greene Scholar
Mina Oates has been named as a Greene Scholar at St. Paul's School in Concord, New Hampshire. An article about Mina, who just graduated from Advent, may be found on page 28 in OTMJ (click here).
Win for 5th Grade Math Team!
Advent's 5th Grade Math Team brought home the First Place Trophy in the Perennial Math Tournament at Birmingham-Southern College on April 9. Adding to the win, a couple of the team members also won individual trophies:

Advent Wins State Math Tournament
The Advent Math Team traveled to Montgomery on February 26 for the 2016 AISA State Math Tournament. They competed in and won the Middle School Division. GO PANTHERS!
3rd/4th Grade Girls Team Wins Basketball Championship!!!
Our 3rd/4th grade girls basketball team beat Shades Mountain to secure 1st place this past Saturday! GO PANTHERS!
5th/6th Grade Girls Basketball Wins it All!
Our 5th/6th Grade Basketball Team won the championship this past Saturday! They beat Westminster in the finals 12 to 7! GO PANTHERS!
7th Grade Pulls Ahead in Annual Giving
Congratulations to our 7th Grade! They currently have the highest percentage of parent participation in this year's Annual Giving. The class celebrated with donuts and Capri Sun.
Buzzer Shot Wins Game

The score was tied as the boys' basketball game on Friday against Sumiton Christian School neared the end. As the buzzer sounded, Alek Ledvina took a shot and scored, giving Advent the win. Watch the video below. Go Panthers!
It's A Panther Sweep!
It is a clean Panther sweep in basketball. First, the Lady Panthers defeated Jefferson Christian Academy, and then the Boys Team beat a strong Westminster. GO PANTHERS!
