Advent Episcopal School Honored with AISA Blue Ribbon & President’s Awards for 2024–2025 School Year
Advent Episcopal School is proud to announce that we have once again been recognized by the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) with both the prestigious Blue Ribbon Award and the President’s Award for the 2024–2025 school year. This marks the seventh consecutive year that Advent has received these distinguished honors, highlighting our ongoing commitment to academic excellence, student growth, and community engagement. Head of School Claire Vaughn accepted the awards from AISA Executive Director Michael McClendon at last month’s AISA Annual Meeting.
The AISA Blue Ribbon Award recognizes schools with exemplary educational programs, honoring excellence in scholastic achievement, professional learning, student engagement, and community involvement. The AISA President’s Award is even more selective, presented to only one school per academic classification to celebrate outstanding achievements in academics, professional development, extracurricular programs, and school improvement initiatives.
At Advent, these awards reflect the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students. With a strong 75-year foundation, a collaborative leadership model, downtown Birmingham access, and premier programs in the arts and French language learning, Advent provides a vibrant and rigorous educational experience.
Since 1950, Advent Episcopal School has been a leader in private independent education in Birmingham and throughout Alabama. Founded during a pivotal period in the city’s history, Advent became a beacon of belonging for a diverse student body. Over the decades, the school has expanded its downtown campus, grown its student population, and evolved its teaching and learning practices. Advent has also been a pioneer in technology intentionality and classroom innovation, implementing a cell-phone-free policy years ahead of similar public school initiatives, ensuring an environment focused on learning and engagement.
Looking ahead to Advent’s next 75 years, we are excited about the future. While recognition through awards is meaningful, the greatest reward is seeing students grow, explore, and thrive. Advent graduates continue to emerge as innovative thinkers, confident communicators, resilient changemakers, and thoughtful citizens, ready to make a positive impact in the world.
